du Voicemail Number: What It Is, What It Costs and How to Turn It Off

du voicemail answers missed calls when your line is busy or unreachable; you reach it by long-pressing 1 or dialing the voicemail short code from your du line. Turning it off is a single cancellation code or an app toggle - and you can re-enable it any time without losing saved greetings.

The number and the toggle

From your du line, long-press 1 in the phone app (or hold the voicemail speed-dial) to reach the mailbox. To turn voicemail off, dial the deactivation code for call-forward-when-unreachable, or open the du app > My line > Voicemail > Off. The etisalat twin of this guide (cancel voicemail on e&) uses a different code - do not mix them.

What it costs

Listening to messages from your own du line is included; retrieval from another number or roaming bills like a call to the UAE. If callers leave messages while you are abroad, checking them on data (app) is the cheap route.

Ring-time tweak instead of off

Most "voicemail grabbed my call" complaints are ring-time: the mailbox answers after ~15-20 seconds. Extend ringing first (call-forward settings) - many users who thought they wanted voicemail off actually wanted 5 more seconds.

Quick answers

Does turning voicemail off delete my greetings?

No - re-enabling restores the same box; greetings survive the toggle.

Why do callers still hear voicemail after I turned it off?

One of the four call-forward states is still on - clear all forwards (*#002# style reset) and test again.

Is du voicemail free?

The mailbox is included; roaming retrieval and some callbacks bill - the app shows which.

About this page

Written by Tasleem Akhtar, Senior Telecom Advisor. Independent service: we are not du or Etisalat, we do not sell your data, and we never route you into a call queue. Figures are read from the operators' public pricing and help pages, then a person checks your address, your bill and your line state before you commit to anything.

Where to check it yourself

These pages belong to the operators and the regulator - open them side by side with your own bill or app before acting on anything here.

Verify this yourself in two minutes

  • Prices and inclusions: the operator's own plan page or order form - the app shows the live figure for your line.
  • Your line state: the operator app - Account > Services shows suspensions, bars, data caps and contract end.
  • Anything regulatory (billing disputes, escalation): TDRA - your complaint must cite the ticket number the operator gave you, dated.

If a number on this page and a number in your app disagree, the app wins - and we would like to know: WhatsApp us the screenshot and we correct the page.
